Director's Notes
Creating and promoting spooky theater has been our mission since we officially founded Stage Fright Theater Co. in 2022. That’s why this year’s theme for Midsummer Scream felt like it was chosen specifically with us in mind. When we were invited to create a show for this year’s event, we immediately started compiling a list of songs we’d like to perform. We wound up with a show that would clock in at just under an hour, so we decided to do a spooky musical jukebox of sorts — snippets from our favorite songs blending into each other. We wrote a story about Beetlejuice bringing all these characters together, and then it was time to cast.
The response we got from our casting call was truly overwhelming. I honestly can’t believe the talent level of this cast. The show itself is a tall order, and they’ve handled everything we’ve thrown at them with professionalism and enthusiasm.
This is, without a doubt, the biggest show we’ve ever produced under the Stage Fright banner, and the way the cast and crew — both returning and new — have responded has made me very optimistic about this company’s future. Music and theater are about connection, about people. That’s why we do this, and this show has floored me with the amazing people and connections that made this grand vision come together.
Please enjoy the show, the convention, and — in the spirit of connection — feel free to drop us a message and let us know how you liked it.
