Join the spookiest cast in So Cal
Are you a talented actor, energetic performer, or behind-the-scenes pro with a passion for all things spooky and theatrical? Then we want to hear from you! Stage Fright Theater Co. is always on the lookout for fresh talent to join our growing team of creeps, creatures, and creatives.
We produce Halloween-themed events all year long — from immersive stage shows and scare-acting experiences to creepy comedies and even the occasional short film during the off-season. No matter the time of year, there’s always something weird and wonderful in the works.
Whether you’re a seasoned professional or just dying to get your feet wet (in fake blood, of course), we’d love for you to be part of our next production. Reach out today and come play with us — the horror never stops, and neither do we!
Calling All Creators, Artists, & Backstage Magicians!
If you’ve got skills in costume design, makeup artistry, sound, lighting, props, or any other behind-the-scenes magic — we want to hear from you!
Our productions are packed with theatrical flair and spooky surprises, and none of it would be possible without an amazing crew making the monsters come to life. Whether you’re a seasoned tech or just love Halloween and want to get involved, we always need helping hands behind the curtain.
Most of our casting and crew opportunities center around our signature variety show: Cobbs’ Carnival of Dreams — a traveling, horror-infused spectacle staged at major Halloween events throughout the year. It’s a wild, weird, and wonderful blend of scripted performances and specialty acts
The show features:
Three colorful emcees (scripted characters with strong acting chops)
Three to four variety acts per performance — these rotate and range from the bizarre to the breathtaking
We’re regularly on the hunt for performers with unique talents, including:
Sideshow artists (sword swallowing, fire eating, contortion, tumbling, juggling, etc.)
Dancers, magicians, and comedians
- Singers, musicians, and rappers
Burlesque performers (spooky or campy themes welcome!)
Specialty characters with strong visual presence or interactive skills
If you’re ready to bring the strange and spectacular to life — on stage or behind the scenes — drop us a line. Let’s make some creepy magic together!
Audition Process
Send us a video. It's that easy.
Those auditioning for the variety show, Cobbs’ Carnival of Dreams, should be prepared to send us a 1-3 minute audition video. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy (on your phone is fine). We’re just trying to get a sense of how you’ll best fit into the show.
If you are auditioning for an acting role, please send us a video sample of your previous work or a 1-3 minute comedic monologue.
If auditioning to be one of the featured acts please send us a video showing us your special talent (dancing, singing, stand-up, etc.)
If you are auditioning for crew or a film project, please just send us a message detailing your experience.
Low Commitment
Flexible Scheduling & Respect for Your Time We know life gets busy, so performers are free to choose the shows that fit their schedule and skip the ones that don’t — no pressure. Most rehearsals are held virtually for your convenience, and any in-person rehearsals are thoughtfully planned and focused, so we make the most of your time.

Everyone Is Welcome at Stage Fright Theater Don’t hesitate to audition — we want to see you! Stage Fright Theater is committed to fostering a creative space where diversity is celebrated and everyone feels valued. Our casting is open to all ages, races, genders, body types, abilities, sexual orientations, and identities. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or brand new to the stage, there’s a place for you in our haunted little family.
Frequently Asked Questions.
Performers under 18 must have a signed release form from a parent or guardian.
Otherwise, no age restrictions — we’ve proudly worked with performers of all ages and welcome talent from across the spectrum!
Perks, Passes & Profit Shares — Let’s Talk Compensation
We believe that artists and crew deserve recognition for their time and talent, and we always do our best to offer compensation for every project. That said, like many indie theater companies, our resources are modest — so compensation can vary depending on the type of show.
For paid bookings (such as when we’re hired to perform at an event), we share profits directly with our cast and crew. Everyone involved gets a cut, because we believe in supporting the people who bring our work to life.
For conventions and promotional performances, which are often staged at a loss to help build visibility, we’re usually unable to offer cash pay. However, performers and crew typically receive passes to the event, which can be quite valuable — especially at high-demand conventions and expos with sold-out admission.
We’ve also done creative trades in the past! For example:
Professional headshots
Edited demo reels
Behind-the-scenes photos and videos for your portfolio
Future performance opportunities
We’re committed to creating a collaborative space that values the contributions of everyone involved — and we’re always open to finding ways to make it worthwhile. If you love Halloween, live performance, and being part of something a little weird and wonderful, we’d love to work with you!
Nope! We provide all costumes, makeup, and props needed for our shows.
That said, if you have a costume you’d love to wear or a character look you’ve already developed, we’re open to it — just check with the director first to make sure it fits the production’s style and story.
We understand that not everyone can make every event — and that’s okay! As long as there is space available in the lineup, performers are welcome to choose which shows they’d like to participate in and skip the ones that don’t fit their schedule.
However, once you’ve committed to an event, we ask that you be available for the full duration of that event’s run. Reliability is key to keeping the show running smoothly!
